Stuart Britton – Chief Executive Officer
Stuart was appointed CEO of RDL Corporation Limited in October 2010. Stuart and his Financial Director, Nigel Gardner, purchased RDL Corporation in a management buy-out, supported by Matrix Private Equity Partners. Previously, Stuart was Managing Director of SEC Recruitment (part of RDL Corporation), a company specialising in global pharmaceutical and IT recruitment. Stuart has spent thirteen years in recruitment and became a Managing Director at the age of 31. Prior to that, Stuart worked in the FMCG sector.
A new member of the Apprenticeship Ambassadors’ Network, Stuart not only sponsors apprenticeships in the recruitment sector, but also plans to promote models for apprenticeships in small and medium-sized enterprises.
Married, with two daughters, Stuart divides his time between London and Cheltenham Spa.
Nigel Gardner – Finance Director
Nigel Gardner, BCom (Hons) CA, has been Finance Director of RDL since May 1999 and, in October 2010, purchased RDL Corporation with Stuart Britton in a management buy-out supported by Matrix Private Equity Partners. Nigel started his career with leading accountancy firm Deloittes, qualifying as a Chartered Accoutant before moving on to work as Financial Controller in an Import business and in an International Computer Leasing business. He was Finance Director of Valetmatic Limited, a Car Washing company, between 1988 and 1994 and then of Valetmatic Holdings Limited, following a Management Buyout, until May 1998, where he subsequently became a non-executive director until January 1999 and also acted as a consultant providing financial and strategic advice to Telecoms and IT companies.
Nigel is married with two daughters living in Surrey.
Iain Livingston – Chairman
Iain brings to bear on RDL his strengths in business management, marketing services and media, allied to his success as a private equity-backed owner-manager. Iain is also working closely with Matrix, as an Operating Partner, looking at new investment opportunities as Chairman of Sawrey Limited.
Iain has had a long and diversified management career working for such companies as ICI, Xerox UK, Butler Service Group, and British Rail, the last as Director of Quality. His role included the commissioning of strategic customer surveys, which led him into the market research industry with Maven Management Limited. Iain joined Maven in 1995, initially as Operations Director; in February 2000 he led a MBO of Maven, financed by Matrix Income & Growth 4 VCT. The company grew a strong client list including Daimler Chrysler, Citroën, Marks and Spencer, DTI, British Gas and Lloyds TSB Bank. The company was successfully sold in early 2007 to Munro Global. In 2005, Iain was appointed Chairman of Tottel Publishing, the MBO of the publisher of specialist legal and taxation titles backed by Matrix-advised VCT funds in 2004. This was successfully sold in 2009 to Bloomsbury Publishing.
Iain was appointed non-executive Chairman of RDL Corporation in October 2010. A keen golfer he lives in Oxfordshire where he also is Chairman of the Thame Football Partnership Limited a recently built state of the art £3.5 million community football facility.
Justin Carpenter – Sales and Marketing Director
Justin was appointed Sales & Marketing Director of RDL Corporation in July 2011. He brings with him a wealth of experience with over 16 years in the recruitment industry, specialising in IT, pharmaceutical and customer relationship marketing. His recruitment career began in 1995 in the IT contract market with MSB International. After developing his role to that of Divisional Manager, Justin then moved on to focus on permanent IT with Optimum IT in 2000. He then started his own consultancy dealing in IT and Customer Relationship Marketing focusing on both permanent and contract recruitment. He also focused on delivery of recruitment training to the IT, Pharmaceutical and Secretarial sectors.
Up until June 2011 Justin worked as firstly Sales Manager and most recently Managing Director within the Animal Health sector dealing with some of the major Pharmaceutical companies in the UK and Europe.
Mike Walker – Non-executive Director
Mike originally trained at 3i Plc and was a director of Gresham Trust Plc for seven years, becoming head of its Portfolio Management Unit. He joined the team as a director in 1998 and is a non-executive director of several companies in Matrix’s portfolio. He has over 30 years’ experience of private equity investment.
Mike was appointed a non-executive Director of RDL in August 2011.
